A Systematic Review of Application for Health Care for Older Adults

Abstract
Objective : This study examines the characteristics and effects of interventions for older adults health-related applications and provides basic data that may support research on health-related application development considering the characteristics of older adults in the future.

Methods : This study used Web of Science, Scopus, and CINAHL as search databases. The literature search period was from January 2017 to December 2021, and the search term was Elderly AND Application AND Health AND (Computer OR Tablet OR Mobile).

Results : As a result of analyzing the qualitative level classification of the searched papers, there were 2 randomized control studies (28.57%), 1 cohort study (14.29%), 1 pre-post study and 3 single-group non-randomized studies, respectively. There were 4 episodes (57.14%) in total. The subjects of this study were the 4 general older adults (57.1%), and hypertension patients, dementia patients, and osteoporotic hip fracture patients were 1 each (14.3%). In terms of characteristics of the elderly, application intervention was applied with the goal of physical health, cognitive health, and mental health, and it was confirmed that a significant effect was shown.

Conclusion : This study provides information that the application can provide an alternative to solving the problems of older adults in an aging society by presenting the results of interventions and the effects of health-related applications for older adults. Applications that consider the characteristics of the elderly in the future will help to develop.
